The city of Blumenau, in Brazil has hosted in the month of August 2007 a workshop on Strategic Management presented by David Linstrom. The “Workshop Practical Strategy – How to build a Customer Driven Scorecard” was organized by Practical Strategy Brazil and Fritz Muller Foundation.
Directors and Executive Managers of important companies in the region such as Senior Systems, Karsten, Breithaupt, Navegantes Port, Boehme Pan America, Hemos Laboratories, Digitro Tecnology, Farbe Textile, J.Oneda Furniture, Uniasselvi, Sulbrasil Engeneering, Selgron, Nilcatex, Belli Studio, Graphus, Gilli Eberhardt e Carrascoza, Guru Sistemas, Jacobsen Couros, among others…
David Linstrom brought new experiences and concepts acquired in the last 2 years of implementations of its already successful Practical Strategy Approach. Among those experiences were the practical implementation of 2 concepts that are creating positive impact in the world today.
The first one was “Good to Great”, introduced from the researches of Stanford Professor Jim Collins. Findings from his research such as the Flywheel, the Hedgehog Concept and Leadership Level 5 were brought through practical experiences of implementation in synergy with the Practical Strategy Approach, applied by David Linstrom in his latest consulting project.
Group of Executives participating in the Worshop | The second concept brought by David Linstrom was the Customer Driven approach developed by author Ian Brooks. David Linstrom has shown how the Customer Driven approach fits perfectly within the Practical Strategy Framework, and had also shown the results obtained in his last Consulting Project in New Zealand.
During the 2 days of the event, the participants also had to get their hands dirty. They were divided into 4 groups where each group had to work developing a Strategy Map with Measures and Projects for some example businesses of their choice, always following the directions set by the Practical Strategy Methodology.
At the end of the Workshop, the group that had developed the best strategy had been awarded a prize by the event organizers. David Linstrom also delivered the Practical Strategy Certification for the companies Sulbrasil Engeneering and Belli Studio, which were the first companies that received a Practical Strategy Certification in Brazil. This certification attests that this companes have implemented and are using the Practical Strategy approach according to International Standards.
